About
I study how states build influence through infrastructure, finance and digital systems, and how dependent states bargain back. I graduated cum laude from Amsterdam University College in 2026, and I’m starting a master’s programme in September 2027.
My work follows two strands. One is Chinese infrastructure finance and sovereign debt, which I researched in my capstone on Sri Lanka, Zambia and Angola. The other is digital influence, which I worked on for the Clingendael Institute, looking at Chinese digital diplomacy in Europe. I’m increasingly focused on where AI and public policy meet, and completed the Frontier AI Governance course in 2026. I also work on digital public infrastructure, statelessness and administrative exclusion, and feminist IR theory.
I build my own research tools when the data I need doesn’t exist yet. Outside of work I run, swim, read, and experiment with coffee brewing.
Research

Selected Experiences
Part of a small consultancy team researching the impact of Chinese soft power on Europe for the institute. Focused on the digital diplomacy section, covering both the academic analysis and the case studies. Designed the interview codebook and coding process used across the team, including for fieldwork interviews in China, and contributed to the methodology (corpus construction, FastText and ChineseBERT word embeddings, sentiment analysis of Mandarin-language social media).
Researched India’s technical textiles sector, mapping value chains, trade flows, import dependence and manufacturing competitiveness, and synthesised sector and trade data into briefing material for senior staff.
Contributed to a qualitative study of cross-cultural meanings of shared meals, covering data collection, coding and analysis in ATLAS.ti. Supervised by Dr Lia van Wesenbeeck.
Identifying peacebuilders, conducting semi-structured interviews and coding qualitative narratives in ATLAS.ti, and publishing stories that make complex narratives accessible to broader audiences.
Researching intelligence sharing frameworks within the Quad alliance and India’s intelligence reform needs in the context of expanding surveillance capabilities.
Programmes and Leadership
Organising the 2027 programme cycle.
Selected as one of 60 students nationally for a six-month honours programme on Asia-Europe relations, including lectures by Asia experts and study visits in Beijing and Ho Chi Minh City.
Completed May 2026.
Side Projects
Conflict data across South Asia remains fragmented, underreported, and difficult to access for those who need it most. I wanted to consolidate all this scattered information into one coherent platform, making the data genuinely useful for researchers, journalists, and affected communities alike. This open-source mapping tool brings together disparate sources to create a clearer picture of patterns and impacts that would otherwise remain hidden in the noise of inconsistent reporting.
I built this during a policy class this year to better understand how different economic and social indicators interact and influence each other. What began as a personal learning tool evolved into something I wanted to share with everyone, offering an interactive way to explore how various policy decisions create ripples across society and the economy. The simulator uses simplified causal relationships to illustrate directional tensions between different policy choices, helping people understand that every decision involves trade-offs rather than simple right answers.
I became more mindful of my environmental impact and wanted a practical way to track my daily habits and measure real progress. This tool helps translate abstract sustainability goals into concrete actions, and I built it to share with fellow students who are also trying to make more conscious choices in their everyday lives. It provides behavioral prompts and habit tracking to make eco-conscious living less overwhelming and more actionable.
Translating textile dye pollution research into an accessible public resource for communities affected by Bangladesh’s river contamination.
A student-to-student clothing platform reducing fast fashion demand by making reuse the default choice at Amsterdam University College.
